Christophe Empeyta (Geneva, Switzerland 1970) He obtained his degree in architecture from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) in 1999. In 2000, he joined the studio of Mauro Galantino in Milan. He then returned to Geneva, where he developed several professional collaborations: first with the architects Ferrero-Delacoste, and later, between 2003 and 2007, with Jean-François Empeyta, architect, and Philippe Paquet, engineer. From 2007 to 2012, he was an associate partner at Empeyta & Alberi Architects, which was later renamed LSD Light Space Design SA. In 2018, he founded his own practice, Empeyta Architectes Sàrl, in Geneva. He is a member of the SIA, MPQ, and is registered with REG A. Over more than twenty-five years of professional practice, he has worked on a wide range of scales and building typologies, from single-family houses to residential buildings, as well as the transformation and conversion of industrial spaces. He has also been involved in interior architecture projects, both in residential settings and in workplace environments. His professional experience includes more than 80 projects, with 42 completed buildings, 34 projects under construction management or site supervision, and 41 competition entries. Through his collaboration with his father, Jean-François Empeyta, he also developed expertise in heritage restoration, notably through projects such as the renovation of the entrance hall of the Palais de l'Athénée in Geneva and the transformation of a 16th-century manor house in Dardagny. Driven by a continuous interest in architectural innovation—both in materials and in form—he has been working for several years on sustainable energy solutions, integrating coordinated building systems such as solar panels, heat pumps and geothermal energy, as well as passive construction strategies and double-flow ventilation systems. He also explores the use of innovative insulation materials such as hemp, wood fibre, terracotta, and hemp concrete. In recent years, he has also collaborated on several architectural competitions with the Milan-based practice ZDA – Zanetti Design Architettura. |
